Dare you take the Kiliman Challenge?

Tuesday September 26th 2006

It’s now possible to sign up for 2007’s Kiliman Challenge. As described in the book, this is the ultimate in African triathlons: beginning with a climb up Kili (which, the organisers are keen to stress, is not a race!), competitiors then have to cycle against the clock around the mountain over two days before taking part in the Kili marathon, which starts and finishes in Moshi. Last year the event was won by Brent Nicolaas Williamson in a time of 16:22:01 for the bike and marathon combined. Fellow South African Julie Stevens won the women’s event in 24:21:05.

South African trekking agency Wild Frontiers will again be organising much of the event, together with German outfit Chagga Tours. To find out more about details of this year’s results and to sign up for next year, click on the Kiliman link under links on this website.
