Kilimanjaro fundraiser to expose herself for sick children

Saturday 8th September 2007

On 14th September Alex Karpinski, South African by birth but Londoner by choice, will be climbing Kilimanjaro in aid of Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. The climb was prompted by a friend of hers who lost her toddler son a couple of years ago.

In an unusual twist to an otherwise regular campaign, several donors have agreed to double their sponsorship if Alex ‘flashes her bikini’ at the summit. I am currently deep in negotiations with Alex to see if photographic evidence of that ‘flash’ can be displayed on this site – if only because I’m not actually sure what ‘flashing one’s bikini’ actually entails.

Still, I’ve known Alex for several years and, if memory serves me well, hers is a bikini - and a body – that’s worth flashing; though I am sure Alex’s natural modesty – not to mention the –40° centigrade temperatures - will be a major stumbling block in her attempt to become Africa’s highest flasher.

Her climb is being arranged by the charity expedition organizers Justgiving.com. To find out more about her climb or to make a donation, visit follow this link to the Alex Karpinski justgiving.com climb page here.

We wish Alex every success – both in reaching the summit, and getting her kit off when she gets there.
