Bill Clinton visits Arusha

Monday 10th September 2007

Sorry if this is old news, but I’ve just realized I never mentioned the fact that Bill Clinton recently visited the Kilimanjaro town of Arusha as part of his Clinton Foundation tour of Africa. Arriving on the 24th July, Mr Clinton’s exact itinerary is uncertain, but what is known is that he took over the whole of the executive wing of the Arusha Hotel by the clocktower and played cards until late before watching his wife Hilary battling it out in one of the presidential debates at 2am, televised live on CNN. A couple of hours later, he hopped onto a plane to visit the Ngorongoro Crater, his first visit to the natural wonder.

There are no plans, apparently, for Bill to emulate one of his predecessors in the White House, Jimmy Carter, and climb Kilimanjaro.
