Lonely Planet founder climbs Kilimanjaro

Wednesday 26th September 2007

Lonely Planet head honcho Tony Wheeler recently climbed Kilimanjaro and has written about it in a blog.

Lonely Tony’s blog-page contains just a few photos and scraps of text which, in the finest Lonely Planet tradition, are riddled with errors and largely inaccurate. (JUST KIDDING! Though contrary to what he writes, Machame is now as popular as Marangu - and we think there are a lot more differences to a Kilimanjaro trek and trekking in Nepal than just the fact that on Kili the porters carry the luggage on their heads!)

Details are brief on the site but he climbed with four friends and took the Machame Route to the summit. Well done him!
