Triplets at the top - but is it a record?

Tuesday 2nd October 2007

I’ve just been sent photos from Hal Haltom, who recently made it to the summit with his three children, Travis, Cameron and Haley. The fact that triplets all made it to the top at the same time is highly unusual; what’s even more remarkable, however, is the age of the trio: with each sharing a birthday of July 13th 1994, it means that they all made it to the top aged just 13!

Their proud father asks if this is a record and to be honest, I’ve no idea: I’ve never heard of triplets making to the top on the same expedition before, let alone three as young as these summiteers. If anybody has any more info on triplets (or indeed twins, quads, sextuplets etc) making it the summit, I’d be very interested. But unless I hear anything to the contrary, I think it’s safe to say that these three are the youngest triplets ever to make it to the summit.

You can see a picture of the record breaking trio at the summit in our Hall of Fame. And congratulations to all three of you - that is one fantastic achievement!
