Alas, no breasts exposed on the summit of Kilimanjaro

It is with deep regret that I have to inform my fellow Kilimanjaro lovers that Alex Karpinski failed in her attempt to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro. Alex, you may remember, was climbing to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital when it was suggested by a friend (whom we can only assume was male) that if she were to display her embonpoint from the Roof of Africa, he’d double his sponsorship (See News 8th September). Alas, Alex, despite a valiant effort, reached only as far as Barafu Camp before altitude sickness kicked in, ensuring that her modesty remained intact, even if her pride took a slight battering. (It’s worth noting that half of her particular group failed; proof, once again, that climbing Kilimanjaro is really not easy!) Nevertheless, congratulations are due for a noble effort, and for all the money she did raise for GOSH. Well done Alex.
