Whizz-Kidz climb success!

Monday 12th November 2007

News has reached me of a successful - and highly lucrative - climb to raise money for the charity Whizz-Kids. Rob Capleton got in touch to say that out of a group of 16, no less than twelve members of the team made it to the summit via the Machame Route, summiting at 7.45am on October 19th. Not only is that a fair number of people making it to the top, but even more extraordinarily, over £62,000 (around US$125,000) was raised for Whizz-Kidz, which helps children confined to wheelchairs.

As Rob poetically puts it, [It was the h]ardest thing I have ever done in my life and the most incredible – it was amazing!...Out our group of 16, 12 made it to Uhuru Peak via the Machame Route and yes, I cried like a baby (as did many others) –it was just a moment that transcends emotions.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the climb.
