Charity climb for AIDS orphanage in Moshi

January 15th 2008.

Rita Langeland, of Tustin, California, has written to me with details of a charity climb in aid of the Treasures of Africa Children's Home, which is based in Moshi, in Tanzania. What's more, they are inviting you to join it.

The 9-day climb takes place in August of this year and, according to the website, you need to raise a minimum of US$5000 inm donations for the home, which is an AIDS orphanage. In additionh, each climber is responsible for the cost of their climb/airfare etc. I'm afraid it won't be especially cheap, for the expedition is being organised by Tusker Trails, who are one of the top operators on the mountain. Nevertheless, there's no doubt that those who partake in the climb will, when they meet the children at the orphanage after their climb, feel that it was both money and effort well spent!

To find out more about the charity, visit the Treasures of Africa website.. Whilst to find out about the climb itself, go to the Treasures of Africa climb webpage

We shall be writing a feature on the orphanage in the coming week. In the meantime, we wish everybody involved in the trek the very best of luck!
