Kili charity climb

January 13th 2008.

Another day, and news of another Kilimanjaro climb reaches the offices of Climb Mount Kilimanjaro. This one is on behalf of the South African charity Reach for a Dream and is being undertaken by Richard Mulvey and his wife Sheila, along with Richard's good friend John van der Horst.

They hope to raise a whopping R100,000 (about US$20,000) for the charity, which helps children with life-threatening illnesses achieve their dreams.

Their trek begins on the 19th Jan and they hope to reach the summit on the morning of the 24th. They are using the Marangu Route, and it appears that Zara are organizing the trek.

You can find out more about the charity at www.reachforadream.org.za. While Richard has set up a blog of his preparations for his trek at www.the-kili-climb.blogspot.com .

Needless to say, we wish them every success. I have to say I'd never heard of the charity before - probably because it's South African - but from what the website suggests, I'd say it truly is a worthy cause. Good luck to all three trekkers taking part.
