About Climb Mount Kilimanjaro
Hello! My name is Henry Stedman, and I am the bloke that writes and maintains this website. I am also the author of the bestselling guide Kilimanjaro: The Trekking Guide to Africa’s Highest Mountain, which has sold more than 100,000 copies since its first publication in 2001. In addition, the website has been viewed countless millions of times by countless millions of people since its inception in 2006.
So I think it’s fair to say that I am a little obsessed about the mountain. Though friends describe me as living proof that virtually anyone can climb Kilimanjaro, over the course of the past 15 years I have scaled the mountain more than 30 times on all of the routes. I’ve also driven round it in a 4×4, cycled round it, and visited all the villages and towns that live at its base. I used to organise treks up Kili too – and have occasionally leads treks up the mountain as well – so I’ve seen the Kilimanjaro climbing ‘industry’ from both sides, as both agent and customer. but today I’m happy just writing about it, and giving advice and information to those who are looking to climb it too.
When I’m not on the mountain or researching for the next edition (the fifth edition will be published in early 2018), I can usually be found living near Hastings in England, writing about walks in Britain, updating this website and answering your emails. So if you’ve got a question, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – we’ll be happy to help, and we find your questions very useful when it comes to writing the guide and this website.
