About Climb Mount Kilimanjaro

Hello! My name is Henry Stedman, and I am the man that maintains this website, all about Kilimanjaro. I hope you’ll find, when you look around, that it’s the most comprehensive and accurate guide to the Roof of Africa on the internet.

I am also the author of the bestselling guide Kilimanjaro: The Trekking Guide to Africa’s Highest Mountain. The book has sold more than 200,000 copies since its first publication in 2001. In addition, the website has been viewed countless millions of times since its inception in 2006.

I think it’s fair to say that I am a little obsessed about Kilimanjaro. Though friends describe me as living proof that virtually anyone can climb Kili, over the course of the past 15 years I have scaled it more than 30 times on all of the routes. I’ve also driven round it in a 4×4, cycled round it, and visited all the villages and towns that live at its base.

I also organise treks up the mountain too as part of our company, Kilimanjaro Experts, and occasionally leads treks as well. So I’ve seen the Kilimanjaro climbing ‘industry’ from both sides, as both agent and customer. And I’m most happy giving advice and information to those who are looking to climb it too. So if you’ve got a question, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – we’ll be more than happy to help.

Happy climbing!

What else do I do?

When I’m not on the mountain, or thinking about it, or writing about it, then I am usually on a walk in Britain. I have been writing guides to the walks of Britain for the past 15 years for the publisher Trailblazer. I have walked, written and updated books to about a dozen National Trails and long-distance walks. (By the way, for my honest thoughts on Britain’s best long-distance paths and National trails please visit my Waypoint51 website. )
